In the e-NOTUM service, 5 states have been defined in which a notification can be found, from the time it is made available to the person concerned, until it is accepted or rejected by him***. The following table details all the statuses of the notifications to the e-NOTUM, with the description and legal effects applicable in each case:

Note on "practiced" status : when the notification is configured with the "share a single notification" check, any of the N recipients who accept it will already make it practical.

Note*** : prior to being made available, the notification goes through the status "Registered". Before being deposited, that is to say before being made available to the addressee, a notification is registered.

Electronic notifications have an initial status and an end status, and the time period from the initial status to the final status is limited to 10 days, which is the time limit for the data subject to access to the content of the notification, as we saw in the section where we explained the characteristics of electronic notifications. The flow diagram of electronic notification status changes is shown below:

How have these states translated into citizenship?

On the citizenship portal, these states have been translated into plain language, easier and more understandable for users, and although the evidence shows the states described above, the following literals are shown on the citizenship portal:

  • Deposited >> On time (Notification is available and pending to be opened).
  • Practiced >> Open (The notification has been opened within the deadline, and therefore, it is recorded as completed).
  • Rejected (no access or no action) >> Expired (The notification has not been opened, but is recorded as completed, because the deadline for doing so has expired).
  • Rejected (expressly or tacitly) >> Rejected (The notification has not been opened, but has been expressly rejected, and therefore, it is recorded as having been made).
